On my tranny replacement I just used my 1/2 socket drive with a 12in connected to a 6in swivel extension to get to the top bolts. The swivel extension was a real help because then you could get your helped to set the e12 on the top bolt and you can turn it from the side of the tranny.
Also, this is important. DO NOT use a 12 point wrench on your 8mm driveshaft bolts because you will round them off. I had to drive to a shop and pay them $20 just to use their 6 point 8mm wrench to get off my rounded off driveshaft bolts.
Get a whole socket rail because a lot of the head sizes on the Jeeps have been changed out from previous owners so you will never actually know exactly what you have to get. To help you with the small stuff, I would actually recommend Harbor freights mini socket set in a blue box. I've been using mine for small bolts and nuts for about 6 months and I am very impressed for the $3.99 I spent on it.
