Hey all,

Another issue I’ve been looking into with the new XJ is the door locks.

The windows and mirrors work just fine.

The build sheet came with clickers but none with the truck.

The door locks successfully unlock and lock the rear hatch and driver reardoor.

It does not lock or unlock the driver/passenger or passenger rear door.

You can hear the actuators moving in the doors but no action on the locks.

I have clickers on the way and I plan to pull the doors off next week for speakers that are blown and will take a look at the actuators.
Anything specific I should look for or do toget these working all the way around?

 

hello,i had locking and unlocking issues with my 97 xj..like you i could hear the door lock motors working but 2 of the 4 doors sometimes would not unlock or lock,all the wiring in the black rubber boots that run from the pillars to the doors were fine with no wire damage or breaks.so i found a post on this site by KyZix in the xj tech write up section and i followed his work with what he did to his doors that suffered the same as my 2 doors..and im pleased to say having now done this work all 4 of my doors lock and unlock,so you may want to have a look at KyZix post its on the xj tech write ups..and its on the 5th page 2nd from bottom...hope that helps you.

Though I do want to try and fix what's in there already before replacing them.

Just like the electric seat needed some massaging love and WD40 to get working again. I hope the door switched just need some of that love too.

 

your welcome my friend,KyZix post that i mentioned helped me a great deal..i also tried WD40 and all manner of things...my guess is that part of the lock and unlocking motor is worn or maybe damaged in some way that it wont lock or unlock all the time..just now and again..and 'now and again' is of no use to us at all.having changed the 2 faulty lock motors i have not had any problems with lock and unlocking..i wish you well in your quest to find the cause of your locking problems.kind regards den.
