98 xj lift
ok i think its time to lift the xj. i would like 2-3 inches and ive been searching around looking at the homebrew stuff on here with the s10 bastardpack, f150 and zj coils and really cant find a definite answer how much those springs really lift. the junkyards around here are too high on stuff and after running around getting everything i would need to lift and still have to buy some shocks i think it would make more sense to just get the rough country 3" lift and be done with it. my concern is it being a 98 at 3" would i need a SYE?
or is a TC drop a must?

I've seen a newer XJ with a s10 bastard pack done in the rear on the Lift/tire setup thread. He has stock tires, with 3.5 RE coils up front and the back seems dead even. That may give you an idea. F150 coils I've heard will run around 4 inches, but will give a harsh ride. ZJ coils will net between 1 and 2 inches depending on how much millage they have on them. You could see if your jy had a set of JK shocks. A 3' lift on a newer XJ is questionable. Each vehicle will react different, and the newer XJ's are less forgiving when it comes to lift kits. TC drops are often seen as a bandaid fix, but if you get vibes and are strapped for cash and can't do a SYE, the drop and some axel shims should help with the drive line angles. I t
