Default 98 Xj commuter

So I will be using my mostly stock xj to commute to and from work it's roughly 200km (124mi) i'm looking for tips on what I can do or upgrade to get the best performance, i'm not asking fuel mileage cause well jeep but just the best things I can do to keep it running clean and strong. Aside from obvious oil change. Thanks

Bosch 4 hole injectors. High output coil. Change distributor cap and rotor every 10,000 miles. New positive and negative cables. Lead additive at oil changes.

Perfect, thank you, are the fuel additives worth while to clean out the system if the jeep has been sitting for a longer period of time and only started periodically. Also I can only find the bosch injectors for 99-01 is the 99 motor any different than the 98 or will those work.

I have the 4 hole Bosch in my 98. Check the different jeep forums. There have been several individuals get the 4 hole injectors off donor vehicles in the JY , repurpose them and sell them at a decent price.

I've seen you can pull the injectors out of a 5.0L mustang motor does the year on those motors matter or are they all pretty well the same.

I found some 710 injectors out of a 98 marquis. All look in good shape.

That is a heck of a commute. A bunch of things come to mind. I think about how much time you are spending driving and how far away from home you could be when the vehicle breaks down. There are a ton of things that could go wrong.

Change all fluids
full tuneup
Replace all universal joints
new serpentine belt
Replace water pump and thermostat
If you dont know how old the battery is, get a new one.
good tires properly balanced and an alignment

I suggest keeping all of the fallowing in the vehicle.
good jumper cables
Full size spare that doesnt leak air and a good jack and lug wrench
spare CPS and tools to change it
spare fluids
a blanket or something to lay on when you gotta crawl under the jeep
some tools. Especially if its a special tool you needed to do a specific job that you may need to do on the side of the road

Yeah, 4x4 shift work, it's a joy but I run some of the biggest equipment in the world so it's an ok trade off lol.

Those are all on my to do, especially since it's sat a bit, all fluids u joints, belt etc. The battery is pooched so that'll be brand new and all the tires, including the full sized spare, are brand new as of last week. I have a road side kit that has tools first aid stuff and extras I keep with me always, I used to truck in the oilfield so i'm prepared as far as that goes. I appreciate that though I work with a lot of people that wouldn't have and don't think of things like that. I have to ask. CPS what does that stand for, forgive me I haven't slept since yesterday, I finished off nightshift this morning so my brain is a little mush.

Crankshaft Position Sensor. Do not buy an offbrand unit. Buy a Mopar wherever you can find it. It probably won't be cheap.

I believe this thread lost its purpose?
You're looking to make it more "Reliable?"
Check out "Cruiser54s Tips" on grounds and what to clean. Don't shoot the Parts Cannon at it if its still working, maintain what you have.

I'm on 300,000+ because I change the oil, and occasionally wire brush off what he told me...
(and some Seafoam in my gas tank.)

(Yeah, I put "That $h!t !n Everyth!ng!")
