My buddies 92 does not do this, mine does. Whenever my heater/ defroster is on the e-fan comes on. I understand the compressor will cycle, but the fan? seems like this isnt need in the winter.

Defrost uses the A/C system. Whenever the A/C compressor kicks-in the e-fan is supposed to cycle.

 

Defrost consists of ALL heat settings correct?
Aka anytime i put the selector **** anywhere other than (Off). If its on just plain heater like, dash blowing...It will come on Right?

The DEFROST position on the selector has a direct tie-in to the A/C system since it wants dried air blown at the windshield. Any other selection (other than A/C positions) should not activate the A/C system, because no other selection asks for the air-drying function provided by the A/C. If you select HEAT then the venting of heat provides for some blow-by to/through the defroster vents (but only a little) without the use of the A/C system. Any other behavior, beyond this description, is the result of a defect/failure.
