Hey all
Picked up a good running xj, lifted, 33's good rubber, rebuilt engine good, a few mods, for $1500. Replaced a couple items, new muffler, new rear main seal, brakes. Runnun good now. But..."..
PO had shaved door handles. So no exterior handles or lock cylinders. Has a remote with a button for each of the 4 doors. Unlocks the door and pops it open when u hit button. Remote says "panther" on it. So it has always worked intermittently. Now won't work at all. Have to leave window down or crawl in back door. Remote battery new. No blown fuses. Traced wires so far ok. So I hate it anyway so to he'll with it. Dent in door is only major owie on the body too.
So found craigslist 4 1997 doors (xj) for $100. Junkyard doors local are $200 each. The parts lists say 91-96 doors and 97-01 doors are different. So at first decided no go. But then found this:

They put 97 zj doors on an xj. Hmmmmm so maybe if u move the strike bolt it'd fit? Realize it's a long shot, but anybody heard of something like this?

Found a few threads that say yes it's a go, but have to remount the striker bolt. Not sure about electrical but we'll see. I think it'll be easier than chasing all the rods, handles, connectors, actuators, etc. Probably cheaper.
