97+ Power Window Timing?
So i just got a JY front passenger door and am trying to make it work. I have power at both my locks and window. The lockout switch is not a problem here - both my passenger and driver switch seem to work.
The problem - when trying to make my window go up or down with either the master or passenger switch, the window motor makes a quick noise as if it's trying, but never moves at all. Maybe the motor is frozen or the motor thinks that it's all the way up, while it's actually down?
How does this window motor mechanism work? Better yet, how does the motor know to stop when the window is all the way up or all the way down???
Any ideas on what to do?

I believe that the motor doesn't know when it's at top or bottom. When it is mechanically stopped i.e. window is all the way up or down, there is an current spike in the motor. This trips a circuit breaker somewhere, probably in the motor, and the user knows to release the switch. What happens if you hold on the switch, I'm not sure, never tried it. I guess an experiment you could do is check the voltage or hook up a motor not mounted to the regulator. Hit the up or down switch and see if it ever stops. If it doesn't, then how I explained is probably how it works.
I think your problem could be a stuck regulator or bad electrical connection. Check for voltage at the connector when pressing the switch and see if you have at least 12v. Also make sure the window is not stuck in it's position.

Yea, the reason i bring this topic up is b/c at the JY i was forced to manually move the window up/down. At this point, it is not steady/fixed in any one place as it should be.
There's definitely power at the motor and 12v at the switch. It clearly is attempting to make a grunting sound, but isn't free spinning nor moving the window.
