Default 97 cold start issue

my xj has trouble starting lately on the first start of the day when it's cold, sometimes it take long cranking and then when it starts it sounds like it's running on 2 cylinders then it cleans up??? no trouble after that first start.

Replace the O2 sensors & if it is still having a problem cranking then replace the battery!

I'd check the the fuel line check valve first.

I'ld put money on the O2 cause of the rough idle (running on 2 cylinders), & the long cranking is due to a weak battery over time it looses its punch! The cold weather can have a strong affect on a batterys cold cranking amps!!!

Yea i replaced the o2 sensors and put a new optima battery in along with checking connections and grounds on the motor, with no result. i bought a new fuel pump and filter assembly i'll probably put it on tomorrow and see if that does it? maybe block temp sensor? iac? sticky injectors?

I'm also getting this...and the temperature is only hovering along -5C. Could it be the starter?
