97 cherokee 4.0 - ignition not engaging starter
hey guys,
the cherokee i have purchased has an electrical problem of some sort. Sometimes it will start with the key - othertimes not. The previous owner has made a work around of sorts by connecting a wire to the green and black wire in the engine bay. This wire appears to go to the starter. When the wire is touched on the positive battery terminal the car will start every time.
It seems obvious that the starter itself is fine but i am at a loss as to why it sometimes starts with the key and other times not . I was thinking the ignition switch could be faulty. Any ideas / advice would be great!
