96 xj mod progression
I just got a 96 xj pretty much stock everything. I don't have the money to make it a major investment. (children have a black hole effect on toy money). I plan on using it to tow my small boat and some mild trail use. It is my daily driver, so I can't go crazy. I am replacing the ignition parts from the distributor to the spark plugs, new air filter, transfer case fluid and oil change. I would like to help the Jeep perform a bit better. What would be the best things to attend to first? I would like to keep my gas mileage somewhat decent also. I'm planning on lifting it one or 2 inches because the boat launch I use can be a bit rough. I don't plan on cutting the fenders.
Basically what should I do for performance?
What maximum tire size would fit with just a couple inch lift?
Any known issues with the 96 xj that I should look out for or attend to?
Thanks

so do jeeps. haha
do some regular maintenance, changing fluids like you said are good, check hoses, in addition to all those, might want to change your diffs, depending on the last time they were serviced. replacing your spark plugs and what not, new air filter, etc is a good start. whenever i do tune ups like that i like to run some seafoam through the TB.
with a small lift (2") you can run 30's comfortably with no trimming, just might want some bumpstops so you wont rub the fenders.

do you do the sea foam while the car is running or off? How much do you put through. I use sea foam for many other things. I've never used it for this type of application.
