96 jeep cherokee headunit help..

hey im am wanting to changed out my factory radio and get a headunit.. my question is would i have to buy the install kit for it. or would i be fine without it..

You would probably need an adapter plate that fits the dash opening and has tabs in the right places for the mounting screws. You'll also need wiring adapters to go between the head unit and the vehicles wiring harness. While some might consider chopping the factory harness plugs off, I wouldn't. If you ever want to do another change, it'd be a huge headache.
I just got the dash adapter from Parts Express. They have an installation wizard for Mantra install kits which from the research I did, got good reviews.
