96 Jeep Cherokee Country
I own a 96 Jeep Cherokee Country 4wd. and on Aug. 1st. I was driving home and I kept trying to disengage the cruise control and all I did was going faster and faster. I tried to turn key off didnt work, then kept tapping brakes and just increased the speed. I ended up having to hit a wall to stop my jeep and not kill my self or someone else. Since then I have replaced all wiring, brakes, calibers and tires. When I do get it started it might go 20-30 feet before it blows the 30 amp fuses and shuts down. What is the problem or does anyone that owns this same jeep as I do have an exercisim done everytime you get in this piece of jeep (oops) we screwed up Jeep. Please help, I can't afford to keep putting money in this thing. Thanks, Kayred50

First off, the brake light switch isn't functioning properly or the cruise would have shut off. Secondly, you should have shut the engine down and put it in neutral and stoped it normally. Hitting a wall was not necessary.

X2 What he said. Who deliberately runs into a wall when you have an "off" switch? Hitting a stationary object was infinitely more dangerous to you than almost anything else you could have done.
As far as the fuse blowing - I'd bet money that if you crawl under your Jeep you'll see the wire to your rear O2 sensor is hanging on your driveshaft. It's rubbing the turning driveshaft, grounding out, and blowing that fuse (which is only suppposed to be a 20a fuse). Fix/splice/tape that wire up and reattach it to the bottom of the vehicle...
