Pretty easy to tell which is which... DO NOT USE 4WD on pavement w/231, unless you want to replace lots of grenaded parts... use ONLY 4Fulltime on pavement w/242...
Ok, now I understand the shift pattern It's a 231 shift pattern.

Update:

I checked it out. It's pretty sweet for having 210,000 miles on it. It shifted really nice, and the engine sounded good. here's the list of what he worked on and what problems it has now...

Replaced:
Both Motor mounts
Radiator
Clutch
Rear differential bearings
Alternator
Power Stering pump
Window motors
Air filter
Fairly new tires
New full sized spare
New fluids in all differentials and transmition
Recently tuned up (2 oil changes ago)
Spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap, and spark wires.
Rear light lenses (oil ones go shattered)
Re hinged door
New speakers (fronts not installed yet but ill put them in if you would like)

Current problems:
Rear windshield washer hosing
Broken windshield
Leaking oil: (3 oil valves in oil pan)
Cruise Control vacume connection is weak, not out
Driver window switch (only the 1 switch not the whole panel)

Possible problem:
Transmition could go out (around 300,000 miles)
Batter is fairly old and may go dead with in the next few years

PS. There's no way I'm going to pay 3000. I would pay no more than 1000. that's blue book anyway.
