Default 96 Cherokee Sport headlight and turn signal issues....

Hey all,

First an intro, I'm hoole (who-lee) I just picked up my first jeep a few months back and I've been emptying money into it ever since it's a 96 chero sport 4x4 HO with a chrysler rear etc etc.

Now for the problem:

Today I noticed I was leaking anti-freeze onto the ground. After some stop leak and more anti-freeze I found it was coming from the filler neck. Stop leak fixed it. While driving to see how it did with some pressure I noticed that hey, my turn signals stopped working.

Conditions: Cold as hell in northern Illinois.
driving >30 MPH

what happened: When I actuate the multiswitch (on the steering wheel) to right turn the high beam, left, and right turn signal flash at a moderate cadence. no turn signal or high beam illumination is present. When I flip it to the left turn position same thing EXCEPT the left rear turn signal flashes quickly. When I pull the headlight stalk out (on) all of the indicator lamps in the dash come on (left, right turn, and high beam). but no headlights or high beams at all. yay. Any ideas?

~lost in the sauce.

also, I checked the front headlamp loom ground and it was solid still. It looks like my coolant recovery bottle overflowed (the overflow is broken off) and it spooged coolant onto one of the harnesses by it. I sopped it up as best as I could with no change.

Upon further inspection. No bulbs are burnt out except for the Drivers side front corner marker (whatever). And when I have the headlight switch actuated on (but no headlights are actually illuminated) and hit the right turn signal they are both dimly lit but on solid (not flashing).

Found a blown 20 amp fuse in the PDC under the hood. Now the rear lights work as they are supposed to but they flash quickly and I still have no front lights looked in the PDC under the dash and noticed that I have no hazard or turn signal fuses (the big semi-circle guys).

Well.... I went to go inspect the front lighting harness. I done found the problem. When I went to pick it up to look at each individual wire they all fell out! (WTF?) so now I'm going to bust my happy little butt and jump them all over. thanks for looking and I'll let you know if this fixes it.

My lights were going stupid once. Ended up being a bad turn signal light and flasher relay. Not sure if that would help you or not, but I couldn't figure it out till I did what I just said.

thanks for the tip. I tested the bulb in this nifty little contraption I came up with. All of them were good. The wiring harness under the air box literally fell apart as I went to look at it. So now I'm searching for a color coded loom diagram. yay.

Nope, working for 5 minutes then coming in for 5. Slowly but surely. Still no wiring diagram that tells me what colored wire goes where for both sides of the molex connector

I just looked a little for a diagram and no luck. Perhaps when you finish you can draw it out and be the first to have it lol seriously, stay warm. Is this your DD?
