Default 96 cherokee sport 4x4, how much can I get?

I bought it a couple years ago and the problems are mounting, the body reads just over 100,000 miles. The transmission Will start to leak and smoke when hitting the exhaust at higher temps, I've replaced the head gasket and had a new head machined, it over heats despite a complete over haul of the cooling system, and now it has back pressure issues, with a projected figure of 2600 to have the short block acid dipped and rebored. I can't afford it any more. How much do you think I could get for it in its current condition, no oil burning in the exhaust, just showing in the intake.

Depends on the shape of the body. If its rusty, scrap metal price. If it has a nice body, $1,000 or so. You can't just drop in a Junkyard engine?

If you're not mechanically inclined and have to farm out all the work, its probably best to sell it off/trade for as much as you can get and move on. Paying a mechanic high labor rates to do extensive work to an old Jeep is a recipe for disaster as you have found out. A Shop will probably charge you $800-1,000 to swap an engine, and thats before rolling the dice on a used engine at $4-500+.

Well I found a place to house it until January, and I'll be replacing the engine then, this gives me time to figure out what the hell I'm doing. Btw just heard the muffinman sing by Frank zappa if you haven't heard it you should listen to it.
