Anyone know where to get a rebuilt engine control module for a 1996 Cherokee? I found a guy that rebuilds them, but he stated mine was too far gone and sent it back. It’s my wife’s vehicle, she loves it and she’s not happy right now. Thank you in advance.
Update - using the P/N # and VIN I’ve located and ordered a rebuilt ECM. Supposed to arrive by end of next week. Hoping for the best. Will post update. If allowed on this site, I’ll also post company name and price paid. Maybe can help someone else.
Update - Jeep is running again! I ordered a rebuilt PCM from Protech Auto Systems (contact info below) on 3/5/26. Received on 3/12/26. Price $599 included shipping and 1 yr warranty. I upgraded to a 3yr warranty for additional $50 and also paid $30 for expedited shipping. So total paid was $679. Hope this info helps someone. You may be able to find one cheaper, but online reviews were good so I went with Protech. Note - when we first tried to start the vehicle after installation, it didn’t seem to want to start. I thought of all the times I had tried to start it while working on it and figured the fuel injectors had been pumping in fuel. So I reached under the hood and opened the throttle to give it some air while my wife turned the key and she started right up.

Glad you found one. Posting the company name and price would definitely help someone else down the road. Good luck with the install, hope it fires right up and gets the wife smiling again.
