Default 95 XJ Transfer case issue???

I finally got my 2000's engine in and am done with it for a while. So on to the old 95 XJ...

When I go from reverse to Drive or the opposite I get a loud clunk.
When in park I can grab and turn both the front and rear drive shafts coming out of the transfer case about 1/5th of a full turn back and forth. U-Joint inspection performed and they are good and tight. The ends turn at both differentials as well as the ends at the transfer case.

Need new transfer case, is there a rebuild kit somewhere? Need new guts for differentials, is there a rebuild kit somewhere?

Any help is appreciated.

Im no tranny/ tcase mechanic and will.never claim to be, but maybe your reverse /drive thunk is due to worn gears? Maybe some of the teeth are a little ground down and upon the initial engagement it slips over a worn down tooth and catches the next?

For the tcase is it a 231 or 242? 242 has a diff inside rhe tcase so it will have some slip in it
