95 XJ REBUILD!!
Ok so looking to rebuild my motor and stroke it out to a 4.7 or more, haven't decided still in the begining of research. My question is what motor can i use? I know 96+ are different ecspecially 97-01 because of the obd 2. I found a 96 motor and would like to buy it and rebuild and do a swap and then rebuild my 95 for a back up. Just don't know if there is to much of a difference between them.

The blocks are the same. The differences is in the intake, head, header, egnition, and wire harness. I would stick with the wires and harness of a 91-95. I just like it better. Then use the intake off of a 99 and that's it. Year matching head and aftermarket header, and I would keep the distributor from matching year. The coil pack I do consider an upgrade but is not cost efficient.
