Default 95 xj problem

On my way to work my jeep died. So I pushed it a block to work and tried starting it and I had to pump the pedal and it started. I haven't tried to drive it yet, but there is no knock and the check engine light is off. It smelt like rubber or something burning and the belts are good. Any ideas?

So I drove it home it drove fine for 15 mins then would die. I let it set for 5 mins and it would drive for 15 mins and die again then start after 5 mins. It stalls on exceleration a little bit. It also smells like it flooded with a little smoke. I herd its probally a map sensor and it has a little octane ping. My freind has a 92 so what years interchange so I can pull a map? By the way mine is a 4.0 HO motor.

Is this the map sensor. With the key trick i get code 13 map sensor or map sensor vacuum leak.

Like a knock from detonation, is that what you mean? Too low octane fuel can cause that.... Or if it's running too lean, parts heat up more, pressure builds faster and to the point the air/gas doesn't need a spark to light off. I personally learned that from experience in college for Aeronautics. Wasn't a pretty sight when I happened too many times and destroyed a plug
