i have a 95 cherokee. when i bought it the blower motor was wired with a toggle switch. the guy i bought it from said it needed a new switch no problem went to the junkyard and got one. when i was removing the radio i noticed that the heater contols were not plugged so i plugged them in and it works just fine except for when i set it to defrost which i need cuz i live in iowa. when i switch it to defrost my volt gauge will drop clear down to 9 when i switch it back to vent it goes back to 14. just curious i never have had this issue before and was wondering if there is some common issue with these or if the ac compressor is shot. i goota get this fixed as i hate using the toggle switch all the time. any help would be useful

 

Sounds like your A/C compressor is shot. Simple diagnosis, unplug it and see if it still does it.

 

thats what i was thinking cuz it sure sounded weird yesterday when i turned it on. im getting ready to go disconnect here in a few. well see what happens

 

well that was the problem. the electric fan did not sound the greatest so i just unplugged them both for now. i work at oreillys part time on the weekends so i should be able to get both fairly cheap.
