Default 95 XJ 4.0 correct fuel pump voltage

what is the correct fuel pump voltage on start up for the fuel pump. the 95 model has the 3 prong plug. I am getting 12v,6v,0v. pretty sure the 12v and 0v are correct. I am not sure about the 6v.

How are you testing this? What voltages on what wires?

Not sure at the moment which wire had what voltage. I used a multi meter and ran a ground jumper back to the battery. i disconnected the fuel pump harness and checked each prong from there. they each were checked individually at start up.

That would be my "guess" also.
Unplugged, test ohms black wire at harness side to good ground.

I have also seen loose fitting ground connections at the pump inside the tank cause issues. Loose hoses there also.

I'm pretty sure the three wires should be +12-volts to the pump, ground, and the wire for the fuel level guage. Not sure what's normal for the fuel sensor wire if disconnected. I would try to measure with the connector plugged in, because just measuring voltage with it unplugged won't tell you if it's a poor connection. Or ground the ground wire, and use the current function on the meter to see if the pump is pulling current.
