I have read many posts about fixes for running rough at low idle, but have tried just about everything and can't get it to run better. Looking for other possibilities before I have to swallow my pride and take it to a shop.
94 Cherokee Sport HO 120K
Bought it from a guy about a year ago and it was barely running. Did a standard tune up (cap, rotar, plugs, wires, air filter, oil + filter) plus O2 as he said it was bad. Ran crappy in the cold but spent 3 months putting a new floor in it and as soon as the summer came it ran fine. Ran it all summer/fall fine. Got cold again in early November started running like ****, then blew the valve cover gasket and possibly head gasket. Started working out the issues and tossing parts at it (list below) but it is still not running right. It idles about 800RPM but will drop and choke out if it idles more than a minute or two. No power at low RPM (under 2K) and will bog down when you first hit the peddle. Sometimes if you lift your foot off and hit it again it will come out of it and acculturates fine. It also runs great over 2K RPM. Almost like its missing or something at driving speeds 1.5K rpm. Any ideas?
