Question 93 xj sport 4.0 stalling!?!

First let me say I'm new to this forum and to jeeps in general and so far my introduction to the cult has been a trial by fire. I am having intermitant stalling problems(surprise, surprise!). I've read and reread every post on every forum i could find about this issue and nobody seems to have a concrete answer. Now to the facts: most of the time the engine will stall when coming to a stop or under decelleration, usually if I catch it just right and hit the gas I can keep it from completely shutting down. This also occurs at idle. I have replaced and/or tested the :tps, air/idle control, throttle body, map, pcm, speed sensor, cam sensor, and wiring/vacuum lines. Ihave also cleaned the battery terminals, the main grounds,ie: engine to body, batt to engine, pcm to engine. any thing helps

p.s. sorry about the book, the more info the better, right?

I had a similar situation about 6 months ago. It ended up being a faulty spark plug wire. It looked good, but upon closer inspection it proved to be hanging on by a thread. Once I replaced the spark plug wires it ran like a champ an has'nt stalled since. I think that it was able to complete the spark when under acceleration.

Have you checked your fuel filter? This can also cause stalling.

Hope this helps,
Capt. Bill

You know, i was thinking along those same lines. I actually replaced the coil wire and that seemed to help somewhat. a new set of wires is on the to do list already, I guess it just moved up a few notches.
Thanks! i'll post the outcome.... good or bad. I haven't checked out the filter yet, this hasn't really "felt" like a fuel problem, but that's something else that should be replaced anyway.

Oh Yeah, 191,XXX mi. and runnin' strong otherwise.
