Talking 92 to 01 Rear Lift Gate Swap

Hey guys, I am looking at buying a 2001XJ for Parts, getting a SMOKING Deal! Just need to know if the rear hatch from the 2001 will fit on my 92. Everything I have read says that the "body" will direct bolt, but the tail lights will need updated.
Looking at a full drive train upgrade as my 92 is a little tired but runs like a champ. Thanks for any help or knowledge y'all can share!!

You shouldn't buy it at all........... Better luck buying a jeep that is actually in your year range91"-96" because there are not many parts that will fit from a 01" to yours other than the suspensions and axles and drivetrain, BUT the drive train isn't exactly easy to do as again, being one from a late model and yours a early, sensors won't match and things will be a lot harder to work with. Let alone the 01" have the known 0331 head which cracks and you don't know the full history of that engine and its maintenance. Just because its a good deal doesn't mean it'll be good for you. Get a 96" or below instead.
Will say this out of truth: freakin SEARCH!!!! The fact that you are wanting to buy a 01" for part for a 92" means you don't know much about the different jeep styles, you need to search and read and get to know them to understand why the 01" won't work for you.

Your smokin deal is just smoke and mirrors. It's a waste of money to buy it, not much will swap over to your 92.

I have got a 2000/1 XJ and you would be amazed at the stupid things that they changed I wanted a new radiater and I got a new one the guy said that it had everything in the correct place only when we put it in for some stuped reason they had changed the size of the auto gearbox oil conecter in the end we cut the snap fixing off and put a clip on it I have also had broblems with electrical components best keep away from 1999 to 01 for lots of reasons.
