Default 91 and later engine into a 90 XJ

I have a 90 XJ I am getting a junkyard engine for. What addaptors changes will have to be made to a 91 and newer I6 4.0 engine to make it work in the 90? Would I have to get the entire engine harness and ecm from the j/y? I have both engines to choose from. I just like how much cleaner my 94 engine bay looks compared to the 90's engine bay. I will be leaving for the junk yard in an hour. Both engines have similar miles on them.

Thanks!!!

ive got a 96 in my 89... i didnt install it but it looks like on the 96 the coil is on the block and 89 it was on the fender... other then that it looks like everything else bolted up fine and it was all the same... theres acouple sensors on the engie that dont have hookups but the stock ecm doesnt use the anyway so they just act as plugs...

The main difference is the fuel injecton. 87-90 is Renix, 91-95 is Chryco.'s OBDI "HO"

Awsome. I will probably be going to the junk yard later today then to get one! I was worried that the stock ecm wouldn't work and I would have to get the newer wire harness as well.
