just bought a 91 xj. i was pulling the flares and bumper ends off to get ready for lift and 33 inch tires when i noticed a plastic vaccuum bottle behind the front bumper. the bottle was in fact broke so i plugged the line but want to make sure im not messing up by plugging it. what is this canister for? this jeep is gonna b used strictly off road so the factory bumpers are comin off anyway just didnt know if i need to get a new bottle and relocate it or if it can just stay plugged off.

 

That canister is a vacuum canister and is needed. Just find a new place to put it under the hood and call it good.

 

no vacuum canister = no cruise control

 

...and possibly no 4wd, if you have a vaccum disconnect axle...
