90 xj 4x4 question

Default 90 xj 4x4 question

got a 90 xj and when its in 2x4 whe ni turn sharp it still hops and grabs like the front end is still locked up now the auto hubs are spode to fully disingauge? right and when i put it into 4x4 part time it takes a lil bit to show its on and when i go to 4x4 high it takes liek a min to show is this normal? or is their just a delay in the lights on the dash?

mine does that sometime . i usally dont use the part time cause in have the transfer switch for my transmission . i just go 4 hi or 4 lo . try going out to a spot were you got mud or dirt and run through your whole 4 wheel drive and and get the gears going again . after my trip this last time it stop doing it .

could be a seized up axle shaft u-joint.

Try driving in reverse in 2wd to see if the hubs release, Thats what I have to do to mine. Sounds like it might need some lube.

And yes, the light takes a few seconds, its all vacuum related.

backing up doest help i do it every time with manual hubs or auto and i zig zag while im doin it
