Default '90 CherokeeABS brake failure/conversion question?

Hi, I'm brand new to the forum and just inherited a '90 Cherokee or "XJ" in a round about way. It had sat for 2-3 years. Long story short.....brake pedal goes all the way to floor, no brakes! I'm by NO MEANS a mechanic but I can usually deal with less complicated stuff and just assumed master cyl had gone bad. After a little research, I discovered I have one of the infamous "bendix 9" ABS systems. Come to find out that it's nearly impossible to find an aftermarket MC for this oh so beautifully designed excuse for a ABS system. Didn't even call the dealer to see if OEM MC is still avail for this vehicle.....I'm sure I wouldn't want to hear the $ if it was. I read about the recall, anyone have experience dealing with the recall? It looks to me that doing the conversion to a '96 non ABS system is the best answer. Again, I'm no mechanic. Can anyone lead me to a thread/youtube vid that will walk me through it THOUROUGHLY step by step. Would be so appreciated to hear from someone that has done it. I don't want to get rid of it as body is in good shape, interior is in REALLY good shape and it is sitting on some Cooper STT 35x12.5's on nice alum wheels and tires appear to be virtually new. I'm going to be putting my soon to be 16 year old son in it so brakes HAVE to be functional. I live in a small town in eastern Washington state and the closest dealer is 60 + miles away. Even in the unlikely event that the dealer did have parts and cover recall on this, I know I would get a call from them saying this and this and this are also shot and it's going to cost you X thousand dollars more. If I could hear from anyone that has experience with this whole situation, I would greatly appreciate it........it's too nice to part out but I don't have an endless reserve of $ to spend. Many thanks!
