89 xj problem

hi my problem is when i turn my steering wheel to back out of my parking place and or take a hard left or right turn and give it some gas it kinda dosent want to go it just gets kinda jerky.... any help would be great thanks in advance

is your truck all the way ut of 4wd?
also check your steering fluid level..
