Hey All. My son's '89 XJ with 4.0 & auto has been stalling at idle in 2WD for a few months. We've had snow for the past 4 days & he states that since shifting it into 4 hi it has been running perfectly. I will start out by saying that I have not yet done the ground circuit freshening (thanks CRUISER 54!) on this one. Other than some sort of disturbing of a bad ground connection when it was shifted into 4wd I'm not sure what the cause would be. I plan on improving the grounds when he can get his rig to my place but I'm wondering if anyone has any input on other possible causes for this. Thanks in advance.

 

A ground could be the prob???? have you checked for vac leaks on the sleeve actuator? or the 4x4 system.

 

Nope. Haven't checked anything yet. Good idea though. Ill check al the vac lines as well. Thanks.
