you have to take the bumper off and drill out the rivet .the hitch will be much stronger with the nut strips than with nuts and bolts, alittle more time now will make a big difference in how strong the hitch is when you are using it later ,when pulling or getting pulled out

thats right, going to a buddys house this weekend to put on steel strip we drilled out instead of the rusty strip that was on the laredo, which will be stronger and should last a lot longer.

finally got the hitch on,when i got it,it was in ruff condition so i sanded, painted, and installed without the nut strips or removing the bumper, got new 8.8 bolts with washers on both sides, fished bolts thru with a peice of cable i found and duct tape on bolts, suprised at how well it worked, finished off with red loctite on threads and tightend everything down.thanks again for the help guys, the 89 laredo did fit my 96 cherokee classic.

this is true,i checked the ratings on these bolts before i bought them and they are more than strong enough for what im pulling(riding mower,4 wheeler, trash, etc.if you look at the picture close you can see i used 3 8.8s and one standard grade 10 bolt on each side, which is 6 8.8s and 2 standard 10s.used them on my blazer and never had any problems wit it either.
