My '87 has actual gauges, but does not have a tach. I would love to have one, can I swap in just the tachometer itself, or will I need to swap out the entire cluster? Where does the tach plug in to? I assume since it just receives a signal from the ignition I may already have the necessary connection on my wiring harness?
Thanks in advance if anyone knows, I figure posting in here is better than making a new thread on basically the same topic....

I have a 94 xj and I wanted to do the same thing because I hate my idiot lights but I talked to a mechanic and he said it wouldn't work because my jeep isn't even wired up to show RPM's and that all the sensors that are already on it wouldn't work with the new dash. If you can somehow figure out how to do this then I would love to know how and how much it costed
