Anyone have or know of any writeups w/(pics) for the R/R of an 88 XJ alternator?

It's probably not as difficult as you think. Here are the highlights:

1) There's a funky little bracket that uses studs through the timing cover. It need not be removed, it must be loosened.

2) As I recall, the mounting hardware for the thing has a double-ended bolt that takes a nut at each end. Make sure you get the backside nut off as well - I managed to snap one of those damned things when I forgot about it.

3) You'll have to finagle the alternator out through the bottom, turning it just so to fit it through the suspension. Still, it only takes a couple of minutes. Note the orientation of the thing when you get it out so you can get the new one back in with much less fighting.
