Default '88 radiator fan issues

Just a quick question about my electrical radiator fan on my '88 l6. Its not kicking on when it should, but I unplugged it and ran some jumper wires to the battery and got it to work. I couldn't find a fuse for it, so I don't know if that would be the problem? I also was wondering if the temp sending unit would be the prob, or if the temp sending unit just controls the temp trouble light on the dash. Its overheating unless I'm driving at highway speeds.

Not familiar with these, does it have a mechanical fan also?

Not sure about the temp contrl unit I would either instal a toggle switch and wire it up or just find u a hot wire with the switch on and straight wire it cheap fix imo

Probably the clutch fan starting to go south. I dont think the e fan is supppose to come on unless ac is on or if u are reaching high temps.

My '90's not working and it's overheating while parked, get it moving and it's fine. The switch for it is threaded into the drivers side of the radiator, I replaced mine and no go. I believe there is a resistor mounted to the driver side inner fender. Does your fan come on with ac, its suppose to. I need to check and see if my fan is any good and if it is and I can't figure it out I'll just wire it up my way, i'd like for it to come on sooner anyways. Good luck with yours!

Yes, mine is doing the same thing. I'm guessing its a bad relay, but I don't know where the relay is located yet. Maybe someone on here does?
