87 xj fuel pump problem!!!!!

87's don't have a ballast.

try this, it works good and also coats the tank to keep it from rusting, they started using it on motorcycles a long time ago.

freegdr, I was thinking about getting another one, my dad is off work today and he decided to pital with it some and he thinks the computer bad now, along with the rusty tank and fuel pump

We hooked it back up and put it in a plastic gas tank that you would put in a boat to see if the pump would run and it ran for a second a cut off

it will only run for a second it pressureizes the system it will not run again until the pressure drops or motor is started

with all the rust dont forget to change the filter and id replace the resistor you stated you only had 6 volts at the pump last year

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, been busy with school. I still have gotten all the rust out the tank yet, i'm going to put some rocks in there and sloush it around and see if i can get some more rust out.

replace the resistor low voltage will als burn up things just as bad as to hogh of voltage
