At least that's how I understand it. If you do decide to go ahead and run your sending units on a tee write back and let us know if it worked out or not.
Now that u mention it i think ive heard that before. It makes sense. It takses along time for my temp to come up. i may take it out and screw it straight in the cooloant flow. Its just a trail rig, i just wanted guages. 2 inch guages are a tight fit, too tight if it was a nice daily driver. I may try and get some pics on here 2moro. i got a photobucket account.

You can buy a tstat housing that has the extra hole for a second gauge and just tee off for the oil gauge.Name: bothhands-meholdit-spanner.gif

For an 87 CEL is not to be concerned about. For oil sender, just remove the one that is already there. And install a different sender. As for the temp gauge, one of 2 things can be done. (1) A t-stat housing from a newer XJ, that has the hole in it for a sender. It will bolt up fine. OR (2) You can drill a hole in the current housing and put whatever sender you want that will fit in it.

WHOAAAAAA NEVER PUT A "T" STYLE FITTING ON THE WATER SENSOR.... you wont get a actuall reading the water will sit in the fitting throwing off the actuall temp u want the water to flow around the temp gauge prob in the block/ water pump

i just put some new gauges in my 97 and when i was looking around the site i found that they have adapter plates for the oil filter and its pretaped for oil pressure, oil temp, and oil feed like for turbos. they also sale coolant temp adapt that mount inline one of the radiator hoses.

Oh ok, because if you did have a coil pack motor and you were running the origonal computer I was going to be very interested in how you did that.
