So i figured why i was waiting on new tires we could go ahead and fix the speedometer. It Bounces why driving. I would say about a five mile per hour bounce. I have another cluster that worked smooth. But it has a 100,000 miles more than my current cluster. I also thought about changing speedometer cables. Or at least cleaning and adding some graphite. And why i am under it might as well check the gear in the transmission. Any other thoughts.

It's usually the cable, but you could pull the gear to check it out. My 89 bounced while accelerating, but was steady at speed.

 

Disconnect the cable at the tranny and pull it out of the sleeve. Clean it and lightly grease and reinstall.
