87 Cherokee NO RUN
So I have an 88 Cherokee(the posting title is different i really have an 88 not that it's too much different) that starts ok, idles for about 15-30 seconds and then dies. If I play with the throttle I can make it last a little longer, but with a lot of pumping of the throttle. It idles smooth as could be and then just dies. It doesn't slowly drop or fades, JUST DEAD.
Things I've bought new, or swapped new and returned---
MAP sensor
THROTTLE sensor
cap, wires, rotor, plugs, COIL.
Crank Position Sensor
VACUUM LINES
Fuel Pressure Regulator
FUEL PUMP/fuel filter
I have a new ignition pick up that I have not yet tried. Do you have to remove the entire distributor to install it? Can I just remove the center shaft and it's just extremely stiff? Need to get to work at 7am Monday morning PLEASE HELP! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Any questions just ask me, as soon as you reply i will get an email on my phone so I will view this page within 5 minutes of a response.

you have to pop off the distributor and there are bearings on the shaft and a gear that has to be removed to get the shaft out they are pressed on but you can get them off with a vice and hammer make sure to mark you rotor and distributor so your timing will be close when you put it back together then get it timed and your good

Have you tried testing or cleaning your (IAC) Idle Air Control Valve? This is located in the throttle body next to the TPS. You problem definitely sounds like an idle issue to me. If you can keep it running as long as your blipping the throttle but, it dies shortly after stopping. I hope this helps.

Idle sensor is clean, I can borrow a new one and see if it makes a different. I just changed the distributor pickup. going to swap the ignition control module next, and then i'll try the idle motor

My uncle is checking on monday to see if his dealership has the adapter for the 87-90 renix jeep.
I'm going to inspect the wiring harness to see if I can find a broken wire or loose ground.

Your parts store lets you return sensors and fuel system components that have been used?!?!
I would be rippin pissed if i bought a new sensor or fuel filter and found out that it was dirty and used or full of fuel because it was returned......

Damn....All the parts stores around me wont allow returns on electrical parts just because too many people have bought them to test them and then made the return.
Around here if it has wires attached or a plug on it you own it forever once you leave the counter. Probably a good thing tho as i would not want to rely on a part that someone may have fried in an experiment then returned.....
