I recently bought an '87 Cherokee Laredo 2-door. It didn't have a stereo. I slapped in a cheap one. It had Infinity speakers in the doors and the dash speakers were gone (Teeters?). The wiring harness has rear speaker wires. I don't see where there would have been rear speakers. Is this only 4-door models?

 

The ones on the lower dash is for tweeters and the 3rd and 4th speakers are in the hatch. Optionally you can find a sound bar from a slightly newer xj than yours pre 97.

I looked at my rear door. There were never any speakers back there. There's no speaker grills, slots, etc. So, I don't know. I guess I'll trace the harness.???

 

Are you looking at the hatch? If you dont have the grill, i'm sure you can cut one out. Heres what mines look like.

 

Yes. I even pulled the panel part of the way off. Mine never had them apparently. Now to look for the wires. Thanks!
