86 jeep cherokee 4 wheel drive problem
i have an 86 cherokee which i recently lifted and after i did that my 4 wheel drive stopped working. the light doesn't come on either. i was at a friends house in his backyard and i decided to go up this steep muddy hill and once i couldn't get up it in 2wd, i engaged it in 4h and only the back tires were spinning. so then i tried 4L and it still didn't work even though it sounded like it. what's the problem?

Check the vacuum harness on the vacuum disconnect. Sometimes a lift will pull them loose. Also to thoroughly check it, you should jack up one front tire when in 4WD and try to turn it by hand. If it will not turn, you are in 4wd.
oh thanks. i looked and it was disconnected so i re attached it. and i also jacked it up and i couldn't turn the front tires. and now the light turns on too. i also drove it on the pavement and i could tell it that 4 by was working. so thanks for the help out. i appreciate it man
