I searched this and didn't come up with much. I'm going to be replacing my trailer hitch soon and would like to add a gas tank skid while I'm at it. I'm having trouble finding a 97-01 skid and have access to an 84-96 one for free. Does anyone have any pics/info? I have access to sheet metal tools, welders, etc. That being said, if it is going to be a huge ordeal I'd rather hold out for the right thing.

thats an interesting question , i never paid attention that all the companies i seen were only for 84-06 ......

 

this is the only company i ever seen listed for 97-01 i beleive its some sortive 3 peice design ,
There is a difference between the 1984-1996 XJ model and the 1997-2001 XJ model.

• The 1984-1996 XJ models have a steel gas tank.
• The 1997-2001 XJ models have a plastic gas tank that hangs closer to the ground.

Sorry, should have specified I was talking about a factory gas tank skid. I did notice that almost all aftermarket ones were listed through the whole 84-01 year range though. The factory ones changed at the 96/97 split and they are not interchangeable without some modification.

 

ooo , but i started looking and everyone was listed 84-96 and one company for 97-01 , but yea a factory one .... well anything can fit with a grinder and a welder they need to add one of these smiley face holding a saw zaw lol
