8.25 Correct?
This is an 8.25 correct? I have a hard time identifying these rear ends. I am thinking the flat edge on the bottom makes it an 8.25. This is on a 96 Cherokee, will it bolt right into my 99 and will I need to use the driveshaft as well? Just want to make sure before I spend the time at the jy pulling it. Has a lift kit on it as well.

and yes, that flat bit on the bottom....that appears to be the 8.25.

Was the 1996 model a "27" or a "29" spline axle in them, can't remember when they started 96 or 97 yr. model. You do want the 29 spline axles in the 8.25 you buy its stronger and more desirable, they came stock in the 99's.

Here is a page that is a little more XJ specific. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...and_Ratios.htm
