I have two Pontiac coil springs from which I think are from '59. What are the odds that they will work on the front of our Cherokees? I will post pictures. They are 17 1/2" long by about 5 1/2" wide. I hope they will work because my front end is sagging from plowing in the winters.
Also what are these in the coil spring. They look like spacers or boosters of some sort. Only one spring has them on. Do I need them. Are they good to have?

Gotta factor in spring rate too.
Not something I would dick around with. Id just assume save my pennies and buy coils made for the jeep.

Well I have no life so I love tinkering with my jeep so I'd prob just put the springs on during the winter and then change them out in the summer. What do you mean spring rate? Could you explain a little. I haven't done much suspension work so I don't know muchOriginally Posted by Xj88
Or..if you just wanna raise er up buy some cheap spacers.

Get some OEM jeep springs (they are about $50 each last I knew) then get a set of air shocks for the front to keep them from being crushed like your current ones are.

Toss 'em and get the right ones. One spring already has adjustable levelers in it. That tells me that spring is already weak and sagging.

Could I use those levelers on the springs that I have on the Jeep now? I'm short on cash and I like that whole "free" ideaOriginally Posted by Radi

I'm not a fan, those things tend to break springs. The twist-in metal ones are also bad news. If you need to temporarily add a bit of height back, use the rubber spacers that fit between the coils. They're cheap. Like these:Originally Posted by doral330
Anyone? Can I use those spacer things in the springs currently on the Jeep? Can I damage anything?

Yea I saw them at pep boys and was kind of concerned about them. But yea they were pretty cheap. Like I said. I'm short on cash and I owe some people some money anyway so it's going to be a while until I can start putting some decent amount of cash into this JeepOriginally Posted by Radi
