Default 5 speed transmission - whick one is it?

I'm new to this board. I have a 2001 Cherokee Sport 2WD x4D, 4.0 IL 6, 5 speed. My transmission has some problems and I am trying to determine which one it is, so I can buy a new/used one.

So far there is a bar code near the shifter that says: TTN15520A0501, there is another number: IL507560 stamped into the case there. On the bottom near the drain plug there is a stamped number: 151 01 g (?). From what I've read it should be a NV3550, but there is no ID anyplace on this thing. Would love to know which one it is before having to pull it. Another person told me it mimght be an A15? I do have some photos from under the Jeep. It has a 17mm "fill" plug on the drivers side.

The VIN number did not yield anything other than made in Toledo and production sequence 507560.

My local "dealer" is zip help. Anyone know the answer to this? Thanks.

wicat3 is correct. Jeep changed the tranny in 2000 to the New Venture Gear NV3550 5-speed manual, 23 spline output.

It can be found in 2000-2001 XJs and 2000-2004 TJs.

However you're likely to have much better luck finding an AX-15 out of a 1992-1999 XJ. It'll be a direct swap and is basically the exact same transmission. Go for a 1994+ to get the external slave. It likely be MUCH cheaper.
