i have an 88 xj with the 4.0 auto, and im wanting to swap in a 5-speed, so i found a deal on everything to do it out of a 93. my question's are can i use the flywheel out of the 93, will it work with my cps? i know the manual and auto tps's are different do i need to change that? is there any wiring or anything thats gunna need to be changed for the swap, what year should i get a clutch kit for? just looking to figure out exactly what i need to have and do before i do this, any info would be great thanks.
( btw i did search and couldnt find what i was looking for)

after more searching and still no luck on exactly what im looking for, im figuring that im gunna have to use a 88 flywheel to match my cps, a pilot bushing from a 73 cj5 with a304 v8 and 3speed, and im gunna get a new clutch kit but im not sure for what year, still looking in to that. im not sure if im gunna have to get a engine computor and a tps for an manual either.

I own both a '93 auto and a '91 manual, from what im seeing there would be a lot of work involved with doing a swap. I believe your right about the flywheel. I know the transmission crossmember on the manual drops 1 inch lower than the automatic so i would assume that would need to be changed. Your pedal assembly would need to be swaped since the brake pedal is larger on the auto. Also the auto does not have a hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal so you would need do make a hole. Your best bet for doing a swap is to find a wrecked 5 speed and use it as a donor vehicle. Also watch what year you get for the donor, i believe 94 or 95 they switched to a external slave cylinder and the imput shafts changed. It will be a lot of work but the results will be more than worth it. I love my 5 speed and would never sell it or buy another auto. Hope that helps

I looked into it a little more and its not looking like that 93 flywheel will work but the transmission and everything else will be fine and the only thing you might need to do with wiring is the backup light.
thanks for the input, i know what work needs to be done with the swap, done it befor in my k5, i have a complete 93 xj for doner so i got everything i need for the swap and i was gunna use the t-case cossmember and all because i read they were different
