4x4 questions
I just got a 91 cherokee and this is my first 4x4 vehicle so i was wondering how to engage it properly. Also i was wondering what each selection is for. My transfer case lever has 2wd 4x4 Part time 4x4 Fulltime neutral and 4Low. I was just wondering what the differnce is between 4x4 part time and 4x4 fulltime. and what the correct times is to use each one. Sorry if this sounds dumb but my jeep didn't come with a manual and nobody in my family has ever had a 4x4.

Actually full time is for use on pavement, it uses a t-case differential to apply power to the axles. In part time, either hi or low range, you get a 50/50 split and this should only be used off road or if you get stuck in a ditch etc. Low range multiplies torque 2.72 times in your particular case and is used off road when extra grunt is needed. Full time is mainly for rainy or snowy/icy type driving when a little extra traction is needed.
