Default 4x4 not working

took my jeep to have brake pads put on and roters turned got it back and now my 4wd will not work it feels like it is locking in but the front wheels are not turning the light on the dash is not even coming on what could be my issue

If your light is not coming on then that could mean that it's not engaging i would check and see if your shifer has come off or is in a bind

Have you tried putting in 4wd and going back and forth

does the '89 have a 4wd light? cause I don't get one but my 4wd works for sure. I "tested it" when I "test drove it" hehe luckily PO didnt come with me

i checked the shifter and every thing apers to be in place and going back and forth did not do any thing

have you check the TC Oil i just sound like your not engaging for some reason

I have a 99, and no light comes on when I go into 4, and it works for sure? My dad has a 99, and no light either.

my 87 has a light,the front axle is vacum actvated,if the actuator is bad it will not engadge the axle when you shift it into 4WD/light wont come on either

is the actuator somthing that the older front axles have? ones with the vacume lines on the front axle? my 99 cherokee 4X4 is not working either, and i thought it was the vacume lines on the front axle were gone but i was told that the 99's dont have a vacume front axle like i thought...the TC is engaging on mine but the front wheels arnt locking

My 90 Limited has a light for each position I think. It has the 242 transfer case
