Exclamation 4x4 does not want to work

ok i have a 1986 cherokee 4banger with 4x4 and when i put it in 4x4 my rear axel you can hear it drop into the gear because of the pitch but the front tires wont lock with the rear so is it my t-case? or something else

yeah it is probably your vacuum disconnect i would put it on stands and see what is going on when you put it in 4wd this way you can see if the drive shafts are both moving as well.
