may need to swap the engine bay harness to do it, but yes. the trans computer goes inside under the dash so you'd have to swap that firewall plug out.

it's not THAT hard to do, but you could also use the xj donor for just the axles and sell the rest of the parts to buy an ax15 5 speed 4wd trans and t-case. the aw4 90 t-case won't bolt to an ax15 due to spline count difference, and you REALLY don't want to swap in another ba10/5 5 speed because they are about as strong as a fledgling.
BTW, you DO have to swap both axles because your comanche 5 speed has 3.07 gears and the xj has 3.55 or 3.73 depending...and you need to be able to weld to swap the rear to have the perches in the right place.

get over on comancheclub.com for comanche specific tech...great place.

This is a stupid question, but what the hell is a 4x2. Aren't all 4 wheel drives 4x2 (4 wheel drive sometimes 2 wheel drive others). Is that just the old -school way of saying "All wheel drive" (read: no 4 low)? Not trying to be a smart-***, I was just always confused by that term.

4 X 2
Number of total wheels X number of Powered wheels

so a 4x2 would be 2wd
