Default 4WD stuck after releasing

My 87 laredos 4wd light will stay on once I put the part time lever back into 2wd from 4wd, I have to back up slightly to get the front wheels to unlock. Is this normal, or am I needing some lube up there? Kinda a pain when traversing snow roads to dry pavement.

Thanks
Mike

I owned an 88 Larado and found this was usually the step I needed to take to get out of 4x4 mode. Usually only needed to back up 5 to 10 feet.

I have found this to be normal with almost every 4X4 I have ever owned with autolocking hubs

Mine started doing that to, but after putting on and off it would disengage without going in reverse. Do all your lights go on? part time and full time? Where is the full time? The only light that lights up on mine is the part time one?
